There is something really special about reaching your first birthday.

A year ago, CASCATA Detox + Restore Scalp Shampoo was still an idea I had carried with me for a long time.

After more than 20 years working with hair, I kept coming back to the same thought:

Why do we spend so much time looking after our hair, but so little time thinking about the scalp underneath it?

That was really where CASCATA began.

Twelve months on, Detox + Restore has become part of so many people's routines, and that means a huge amount to me.

Because CASCATA was never about simply creating another shampoo.

It was about helping people understand that healthy hair starts at the scalp.

One year of better scalp care

Working with hair for more than 20 years has taught me that beautiful hair is about much more than the finished look.

Of course, we want shine.

We want volume.

We want softness and movement.

But underneath all of that is something we often forget.

The scalp.

Over the past year, one of the things I have loved most is seeing more women starting to think about their scalp as part of their normal haircare routine.

Everyday build-up.

What our first year has taught me

One of the biggest things this year has reinforced for me is that haircare is personal.

There is no one routine that suits everybody.

Some of us wash our hair more often.

Some rely on dry shampoo between washes.

Some use heat every day.

We all treat our hair differently.

But there is one thing we all have in common.

Over the past year, I have found myself talking about scalp health constantly - with clients, friends and customers.

Because once you start thinking about your scalp differently, you notice things you probably never thought about before.

A sister who loves styling products.

A daughter who is just starting to understand her own hair.

Or somebody who has simply never thought about cleansing their scalp properly.

Sometimes the best beauty recommendation is not the newest trend.

It is the thing that makes somebody say:

"I never thought about it like that before."

That is exactly what I want CASCATA to do.
